How Suki AI Dental Billing works

You keep your software, your schedule and your team. We work inside your systems, take on the billing work and show you the results every month. Here is how getting started works, and how a claim moves once we are on board.

Getting started

Seven steps from the first call to your first monthly report.

Request a free billing review
  1. Step 1: Free billing review

A short call about how billing works in your office today: your claim volume, payer mix, software and where things get stuck. You get a plain summary of what we would change.

  2. Step 2: Written quote

Pricing based on your claim volume and the services you want, in writing, before anything starts.

  3. Step 3: Business Associate Agreement

We sign a BAA before we access any patient information, so your patients’ data is covered from day one.

  4. Step 4: Secure access

We set up individual accounts for our team in your practice management system, clearinghouse and payer portals. No shared logins.

  5. Step 5: Onboarding

We learn your fee schedules, payers and office policies, and agree on handoffs with your team: what the front desk collects, where x-rays live and who answers documentation questions.

  6. Step 6: Billing, every day

Benefits verified ahead of appointments, claims sent complete, every open claim followed, payments posted and denials worked.

  7. Step 7: A monthly report

A plain-English report on what was billed, collected and still open, and why claims were denied, with a call to walk through it whenever you want one.

Where AI helps, and where people decide

At every stage, AI does the reading, checking and watching. Billers do the work that needs judgment. A person reviews AI work before it reaches a payer or a patient.

What AI does and what our billers do at each stage of dental billing
Stage AI Our billers
Insurance verification Reads benefits responses and flags limits, waiting periods and maximums. Verify coverage, call payers when answers are unclear and brief your front desk.
Pre-authorizations Spots treatment that needs approval and drafts the narrative. Gather documentation, get dentist review and submit the request.
Coding review Suggests codes and checks each claim against payer rules. Confirm every code against the notes and ask your team when something does not match.
Claims and follow-up Watches status and flags claims that have gone quiet. Send claims, fix rejections and call payers on stalled claims.
Payment posting Reads remittances and flags underpayments and hidden denials. Post payments, reconcile deposits and send problems to follow-up.
Denials and appeals Sorts denials and drafts appeal letters. Decide the approach, edit and send appeals, and fix root causes.
Patient statements Writes plain-language balance explanations. Review statements, follow up and bring account decisions to you.
Reporting Tracks the numbers and flags trends. Explain what changed and what we are doing about it.

A claim, start to finish

Most claims go through without trouble. This one did not, which is exactly when the split between people and AI matters.

The payment came back lower than expected. AI noticed because it compares every payment with what the plan should pay. A biller called the payer and got it reprocessed. In many offices, that short payment would have been adjusted off without anyone asking why.

Sample claim with an underpayment Illustration with sample data
  1. AI check Before the visit

Benefits checked. Annual maximum nearly used. Front desk briefed on the patient’s likely portion.

  2. Billing specialist Same day as treatment

Codes confirmed against the clinical note. X-ray attached.

  3. AI check Before submission

Claim passed the payer rules check.

  4. Billing specialist Day 1

Claim sent electronically and accepted by the clearinghouse.

  5. Flagged for review Day 16

Payment arrived short. Flagged as a possible underpayment.

  6. Billing specialist Day 17

Called the payer. Claim sent back for reprocessing at the correct amount.

  7. Result Day 28

Paid correctly, posted and patient statement sent.
